USA Trip, September 2014

We’re back home after spending two amazing weeks in the US. It is the best trip I’ve made so far and it’s mostly because of my best friend, Risten Inga, who followed me around. We flew into Miami and spent a few days on the beach before we rented a car and headed west with one destination in mind, Texas. I have many precious memories from our drive, but in this post I’ll focus on “horsey” things only…

First I will briefly mention that we spent a day at the Cotton Stakes and watched some very talented derby horses cut, there included a very exciting young stallion by Metallic Cat out of our favorite dam THE SMART LOOK [dam of WR This Cats Smart]. Sannman was his name,,,

Than we went to the sale,
I think it’s very important for you to know the extended work that I did before attending this sale [where I purchased Peoplina Rey]. Once the sale catalog came online a few weeks prior the sale, my research begun. I Googled all horses I thought had an interesting pedigree, and wrote to some of the owners with questions. I felt confident that I knew as much as I possible could about each horse of interest before we flying to the US… When we arrived to Texarkana we drove right to the sale-grounds and walked around for many hours. I looked at all horses at least once, some horses twice, and some uncountable number of times – slowly scratching one after the other from my list of potential purchases. When we got tired we finally drove to the hotel and checked in, about 1 AM in the morning. Than we found a restaurant and ate some dinner. When we were filled, we returned to the sale-ground once more (because After a few hours of sleep we returned to the sale grounds and was there by 6 AM. I was confident that by the time the sale started, I knew as much as I possible could about the personalities of my selected horses. I was prepared for the sales to begin!

…I was surprised to find myself the highest bidder on the first horse I bid on, a 2011 DUAL REY daughter. I was beyond happy and went straight out to the barns to greet her after she was officially ours.

I walked around with her on the ground. Scratched her belly. Spent some quality time with her. Than it was time to make the final preparations. I had previously talked to Mr. Shane Plummer of SDP Buffalo Ranch to haul my horse in the event I would be the high bidder on one. Now it was time to find him. I looked around at the crowd but didn’t really know what to look for, until I saw the ‘TR Dual Rey’ jackets. I introduced myself to them and for sure, it was the right people. I gave them the paperwork and they hauled my mare to their ranch in Fort Worth.

Our vacation continued and we spent time with some friends in Gainesville, TX. But as excited as I were, we drove to SDP Buffalo Ranch and met the people [and horses] behind this successful program. Shane was kind enough to personally show me around his beautiful ranch. He introduced me to his stallions and other horses. We looked at his weanlings and mares too. When we were done, Shane let me use some of their tack and I took my new mare out for our first ride together…

From Shane’s program there’s one amazing stallion I’ll never forget. Hydrive Cat. I loved this son of High Brow Cat. His neat personality and great conformation. This is without doubt a stallion I want to use in my program in the future…

I hope you enjoyed my story. I know I enjoyed sharing it…

Quarantine

As many of you already know, I’ve bought a young mare from USA. What many doesn’t know is that I’m using EZ 2 Spot Ranch to help me get the mare from USA to Europe.

I’m so happy to say that Dianne Nielsen is a great person to work with. No complications what-so-ever, and the EZ 2 Spot Ranch does everything in their power to make their customers happy. With all that said, I’m glad to announce that Dianne and the others have easily earned my trust to take care of my mare…

I’m so excited for PEPOLINA REY to come home in October…

Pepolina Rey

I am beyond excited to announce the purchase of Pepolina Rey, a 2011 Dual Rey daughter!

Dual Rey is the #3 All-Time Leading Cutting Sire, with offspring earnings in excess of $25 Million Dollars! He is also a great NRCHA sire with over $1 Million Dollars in produce earnings… I don’t believe that this outstanding stallion needs any further introduction.

Photo below is of the amazing stallion himself:

The story behind this mare is pretty unique to me, and for sure one I’ll always remember. My dearest friend and I were on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation together, driving around in the US (from Miami to Dallas). While passing Texarkana we stopped at a horse auction, where I saw this cute filly by Dual Rey. One look at her and I knew that I wanted her, I fell in love…

DMAC Delta Dawn. Import USA.

This post was made on April 20th, 2017 but it is published to be the first post of our blog. I want to take some time to tell you about how JonssonQH came to be. It all started back in 2009 when I bough a dog [I’m a breeder of Working Australian Shepherds] from Texas. When I went to pick that puppy up I got introduced to the western lifestyle and more specifically, I got introduced to the sport of cutting. Ever since that day, when I saw my first cutting horse show, I knew…

I knew I wanted to own horses like that, brave and athletic. My dream became that one day, I would be the one to enter than arena on a horse like that. So, my search began. I quickly realized that this was a sport of money, not only to buy your horse costed money, but to buy the tack needed and to the keep the cows is expensive, everything around this costed. But that didn’t stop me, I was determent that one day, I wanted to do this. I was seventeen years old.

I started saving money and time passed. I searched for a horse in Sweden, in Europe, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I wanted a mare, that I knew. And I wanted one with a great pedigree for cutting, which was hard to find at the time. So, I saved more money and decided to import a horse instead. Time rolled on and it wasn’t until the beginning on 2012 I knew that it all would be a possibility for me. Our family had just moved out to a 500 acre ranch, so we finally had enough space… I started seriously looking and in September of 2012 I found what I wanted, in South Dakota, USA.

DMAC Delta Dawn was by one of my [than] two favorite stallions, Royal Fletch and Reys Dual Badger. This ROYAL FLETCH daughter was still very young, she was in foal and she was rideable. I chatted with the current owner which later became a great friend of mine and not long after, I bought her to my parents surprise. Later than year, exactly on November 7th (if I recall right) she arrived to Sweden…

Dixie has been the joy, and the pride, of this whole dream. She’s a great horse and we are very happy to be able to build a program around a mare like this…
